Good winter soup/stew, helping Ukraine, and a feel-good movie
READ this article about the ways Americans can help Ukrainians during this difficult time. It lists great non-profits as well as independent Ukrainian media outlets to support.
WATCH this funny romantic comedy starring Charlie Day and Jenny Slate, in which they play two heartbroken people determined to get their exes back at any cost. The movie, which is available on Amazon Prime, is an easy watch that’s funny and charming.
COOK this roasted white bean soup/stew, which is basically just throwing ingredients in a pot and watching magic happen. I’ve made this a few times and have taken liberties with the recipe by adding kale, a squeeze of lemon (for more acidity), and always more spice than called for. It’s a great winter dish. Pro tip: smash the beans to give the soup more of a stew consistency and serve it with some olive oil toasted bread.
PRE-ORDER this beautiful book from Jessica Nabongo and National Geographic. We interviewed Jessica for Unearth Women back when she was on her way to becoming the first Black woman documenting her travels to every country on earth. Since then, Jessica has completed her mission and made history. Now, her forthcoming book is a celebration of her record-breaking travels around the globe.
