In this newsletter: ‘Call You When I Land’ book tour events. If you’ve found your way here but are not yet subscribed, here, let me help you with that (it’s free):
Throughout my life, I’ve clung to the memoirs of everyday women who were brave enough to share their stories. Not holding back, they’d bring readers into their lives, taking us down the often bumpy road that led to their transformations. Through their vulnerability and candor, they showed readers how steel is forged in fire.
Their stories of loss and love, grief and healing, growth and evolution, failure and success, struggle and perseverance became our collective inspiration. Their stories became our stories, giving us permission to change course and live life on our own terms. This past week, my story became your story. My travel memoir, Call You When I Land, was published this past Tuesday, landing in bookstores and airport shops across the country.
Call You When I Land is a journey over ten years in the making, an adventure marked by landings and takeoffs, epiphanies and revelations, beautiful countries, and crowded hostels. My travel memoir details the many ways travel has shaped my life and morphed me into the woman I am today and how the simple act of traveling has the power to completely transform us on an almost molecular level, bringing us to new places far from where we started.
This week, I kick off my book tour with events in NYC, Boston, and Chicago, with some truly phenomenal guests. All events are free to attend. So, if I come to your neck of the woods, I hope you’ll join me for an evening of books, travel, and sparkling conversation.
This Tuesday (11/14), I’ll be joined by the Emmy-winning travel host, Samantha Brown, for a special evening at the much beloved Book Club Bar in Manhattan’s East Village. If you don’t know Samantha, she is a true pioneer for women in the travel space, paving the way for women in travel media with her years of on-air work with her award-winning television show, “Places to Love,” on PBS. No RSVP is necessary.
On Wednesday (11/15), I’ll be sitting down with the inspiring Beth Santos at the iconic Harvard Bookstore in Boston. Beth Santos is the founder of one of the largest travel communities for women, Wanderful, with chapters in multiple cities and an on and offline community bringing women together. She is also the creator of the Women in Travel Summit, one of the premier travel conferences catered to women. As if that weren’t enough, Beth is the author of the forthcoming book Wander Woman (now available for pre-order). No RSVP is necessary. Event details here.
On Thursday (11/16), I’ll be headed to Chicago for not one but two special events at two iconic local bookstores. On Thursday, I’ll be sitting down with the popular Chicago-based book blogger and creator Jennifer Steinhagen of @bookandachai at the iconic Women & Children First Bookstore. RSVP is free.
On Friday (11/17), I’ll be joined by the Emmy-winning host and creator, Catie Keogh, for an event at Book Cellar. Catie is the founder of Let’s Go with Catie Keogh, a freelance digital content creator for National Geographic Travel and National Geographic Adventure and a moderator for Nat Geo’s Women of Impact Facebook Group. Catie is currently the host of her own travel radio show on WLS in Chicago and a travel expert for WGN TV on Daytime Chicago. Join us for an evening of travel, books, complimentary wine, and great conversation. RSVP required.
